Overview

AI is a leadership multiplier: practical demos and prompt engineering you can use today

Objectives

By the end of this 3-hour hands-on workshop, participants will be able to:
• Use a simple prompt framework to get reliable, repeatable results for school business tasks (analysis, writing, communication, and planning).
• Build faster data workflows by using AI to generate, troubleshoot, and improve spreadsheet formulas, then validate outputs with common sense checks.
• Create and use a custom AI agent that follows your rules and templates to support recurring work such as dashboard summaries, narrative explanations, process documentation, and presentation drafts.

Description

This hands-on workshop helps school business teams move from “AI curiosity” to practical, repeatable workflows they can use the next day. We will begin with a short framework for writing effective prompts, then rotate through quick demos and guided practice so participants can immediately apply what they learn.

Participants will practice using AI to speed up four common workstreams:
• Dashboards and reporting: turning a goal (budget monitoring, grants, purchasing, staffing) into a clear set of metrics, visuals, and a simple dashboard.
• Spreadsheet automation: drafting and refining formulas, cleaning data, and producing quick analysis or summaries based on real-world scenarios.
• Documents and templates: producing a polished multi-page document using a builtin canvas-style workspace (procedures, cheat sheets, communications, or planning docs).
• Presentations and narratives: generating an outline and slide-ready content for a  short briefing or update, then tightening it for clarity. Generate slides with AI tools.

We will also introduce custom AI agents: a specialized assistant you configure once with your preferred prompts, rules, and templates, so it can reliably help with repeat tasks (for example: “teacher contract specialist,” “policy expert,” “standard email drafts,” or “procedure template builder”). The focus is high-impact workflows, clear quality checks, and responsible use in day-to-day school business operations.
