Suzanne McLaughlin is the Executive Vice President for Custom Computer Specialists. She has over 30 years of technology consulting and management experience, focusing on cyber security, physical security, infrastructure design, networking and collaborative technologies. She works closely with Custom’s education, government and corporate clients to map technology solutions to produce high-impact technology solutions.

Morgan works with building owners to understand the unique challenges related to their facilities and to develop solutions that meet and address their operational and financial needs. Morgan’s education as a degreed mechanical engineer allows her to apply her deep knowledge of how buildings work to collaboratively develop customer solutions. She works with Trane’s local Energy Services team to specifically help K-12 school districts create safe, comfortable, and efficient schools with higher performance learning environments. Morgan also has experience helping owners reduce energy consumption and demand, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and create more sustainable and reliable facilities.

Melissa leads Trane’s regulatory thought leadership, market intelligence, and advocacy in the energy sector. She has over 15 years of experience in advocating for sustainable and resilient community infrastructure solutions.  Melissa holds a B.S. in Public Relations from California State University and a M.B.A. from Rutgers University.

Andréa (A.J.) Coté, M.Ed., CETL has over 20 years of educational experience in the areas of digital learning, adult learning & professional development, assistive technology, and special education. The first 15 years of A.J.’s career were dedicated to serving in Massachusetts public school districts supporting students and educators as an Instructional Technology Specialist and nationally Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL). A.J. has been with the DESE for over a decade, having served as the Coordinator of Digital Learning and Accessibility in the Office of Digital Learning, as the Statewide Professional Development Programs Manager in the Office of Special Education Planning and Policy Development, and in her current role as the Assistant Director of Educational Technology. She has extensive experience teaching students as well as providing interactive and engaging adult professional development at the school, district, state, and national levels.

Jackie Gantzer is the Director of Educational Technology and School Support at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In this dual capacity she leads the Department’s efforts to promote equitable and effective use of edtech and supports the Chief of School’s strategy towards Deeper Learning for all students. She previously served as the Director of Remote Learning, where she played a leading role coordinating and implementing the state’s pandemic response for K-12 schools. Jackie brings a variety of perspectives and experiences to her role at the Department, including previous service as a classroom educator, school system leadership, city government, and nonprofit.

Lindsey Albernaz is a Certified Public Accountant, former auditor in the Governmental and Nonprofit public accounting sector and is currently the Business Manager for READS Collaborative located in Middleboro, MA. While starting her career out in public accounting in 2005, Lindsey transitioned into the public education beginning as the joint Director of Business and Finance for the Somerset Public Schools and Somerset Berkley Regional School District in 2014. She joined READS Collaborative in 2019. Lindsey holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and master’s degree in Taxation. She currently lives with her husband and two daughters in Rehoboth, Massachusetts.

Michael MacMillan is currently the Business Manager for the Monomoy Regional School District. He previously held the same position in the Cohasset Public Schools and Wareham Public Schools. Prior to entering school finance, Michael worked in school technology, national government finance and policy, and management consulting.

Rob O’Donnell is the Director of School Finance at DESE. The unit that he oversees is responsible for the Chapter 70 program, charter tuition and reimbursement calculations, school choice, the End of Year Report data collection, and the development of related data reports.

Meghan Ryan is the State Aid Programs Manager for the Office of District and School Finance at DESE.

Kathy Cross is the Assistant Director for Federal Grant Programs for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE’s) Office of Planning and Research, Resource Allocation Strategy and Planning. Most recently, Kathy has worked as part of a core team to develop and implement the new cloud-based grants management system, Grants for Education Management System (GEM$) both internally and in the field, in addition to responsibilities associated with managing federal entitlement grant programs.

Matthew Deninger is the Chief Strategy and Research Officer at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In this role, Matt works to support school districts in their efforts to enhance equity, use research to inform decision-making, and use resources to improve academic achievement across the board, especially in areas that serve historically underserved students. He oversees the administration and implementation of a wide range of funding mechanisms, including several major federal grant programs (ESSER, ESSA, IDEA, and Perkins).

Jay Sullivan is the Associate Commissioner for District & School Finance in the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education. In this capacity, he directs the Offices of School Finance, School Business and Regional Governance. He also oversees a variety of financial programs, including Special Education Circuit Breaker, School accounting, End of Year Financial Reporting and Auditing, Transportation, as well as federal compliance issues relative to maintenance of effort requirements and the calculation of district’s indirect cost rates. Jay has worked for the Department for over 43 years as an auditor, administrator and business manager.

David has been the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations with the Lexington Public Schools since July 2019.  Prior to joining Lexington, he was the Director of Finance in the Bedford Public Schools for sixteen years.  David came to public education after ten years of service in state government and the nonprofit sector.  He holds a BA in Government and Economics form Clark University and a Masters in Public Administration from Suffolk University.

Daniel Gale has been in school finance since 2008 and has worked in Worcester, Clinton, Grafton, and now Hudson.  He graduated from Bucknell University with a major in Business Mgmt and from Clark University with a Master in Public Administration, and also completed the MASBO licensure program.  Daniel is currently on the Board of Directors of MASBO.  He enjoys professional development and collaborating with colleagues.  When not in the office, he enjoys playing all sports, especially golf, with friends and with his son.

Chris Horan has more than 25 years of experience in strategic communication for K-12 schools and districts. As founder of Horan Communications, Chris has provided consulting, coaching, and training services to educational leaders in 15 states and the District of Columbia. Susan Bottan returned to Wayland Public Schools in July, 2023 to begin her 8th year as the Director of Finance and Operations for the Wayland Public Schools following a 2-year engagement as Director of Finance and Operations for the Reading Public Schools. Susan began her School Business Official career in 1998 following 16 years working in the roles of manufacturing analyst and marketing and development director for private and public corporations. Susan began her career as a public school official in 1998 for Lexington Public Schools. Over the years, Susan has been privileged to also serve within the Lincoln and Marlborough Public Schools. Susan is the current Vice President of MASBO. Susan has earned undergraduate degrees in education and early childhood development from Lesley University, MS in child development and child care studies from Boston University (Wheelock College), and MBA from Simmons University.

Anna Bishop has been the Director of Finance & Operations at the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative (LPVEC) for 24 years, bringing extensive expertise in financial management and operational leadership. She holds an MBA in Business Management from the University of Massachusetts, is a Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations® (SFO®), and has her MCPPO (Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official) designation. Her experience, education, and certifications make Anna an invaluable asset to the LPVEC team.

Kirsteen Patterson has earned a BSBA specializing in Accounting, MBA and Masters of Science in Counterterrorism from Nichols College.  Kirsteen has 26 years’ experience in Regional, Vocational Technical Regional and City school systems currently serving as Director of Finance and Operations at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional.  Kirsteen is an advocate for Health and Wellness programs within schools and is passionate about School Nutrition and partnering with food services to ensure healthy meals for all students.

He is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Ohio.

In her role as Director of Business & Finance, Sherry is responsible for managing budget development and maintenance. Prior to joining the School Finance team, Cheryl has 8 years of additional experience at DESE in Data Analysis and Reporting, Charter School and School Redesign and Planning and Research offices.
