Payroll 101: Introduction to Payroll provides a practical foundation in the laws, processes, and financial controls that support school district payroll operations. Designed for both new and developing payroll professionals, the course covers the full payroll cycle, including onboarding, pay changes, final checks, balancing, reconciliation, budget coding, accounting entries, and internal controls. Participants will explore how payroll connects to budgeting, financial reporting, benefits, confidentiality, and compliance with Massachusetts and federal requirements. By the end of the course, learners will have the vocabulary, context, and procedural understanding needed to contribute confidently to accurate and accountable school district payroll operations.
