Impact of AI on Data Privacy and Cybersecurity: How Districts Can Protect Student and Staff Data from Emerging Cyber Threats and Associated Costs

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape education in the classroom, it brings both opportunities and challenges with data protection, especially when it comes to data privacy. This session will explore how AI-powered tools may compromise student and staff data, raising important ethical and cybersecurity considerations for educators and administrators. We will discuss two local School Districts that have suffered from cyberattacks triggered by AI, how they were breached, and their approach to remediation. We will also discuss what steps Administrators and Educators can to take to enhance their data privacy and the associated costs to increase cybersecurity to minimize risk.
