The goal of this session is for attendees to walk away with concrete next steps to begin planning for school bus fleet electrification. We will give an overview of funding and technical assistance opportunities in addition electrification background and how to overcome barriers to entry.

Gary Rennie works as an Environmental Analyst in the Air & Radiation Division of the EPA Region 1 offices in Boston, MA. He leads the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) Program and is the regional contact for EPA’s Clean School Bus Program. Gary also co-leads the Northeast Diesel Collaborative (NEDC) with EPA Region 2 in addition to working on General Conformity issues relating to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Prior to EPA, he worked as an Analyst for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and as a Forester for the US Forest Service in Alaska. Gary holds a M.A. in Urban Planning and Environmental Policy from Tufts University.

David Coelho (Moderator)

David has been the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations with the Lexington Public Schools since July 2019. Prior to joining Lexington, he was the Director of Finance in the Bedford Public Schools for sixteen years. David came to public education after ten years of service in state government and the nonprofit sector. He holds a BA in Government and Economics form Clark University and a Masters in Public Administration from Suffolk University.
